The childhood architecture company
Purpose
We are a traveling shelters company founded in 2020 by David and Mireia, with and for our kids Ina Joy and Kim.
Our family of tiny habitats is playful and designed to travel.
Our huts, tables, easy chairs, chairs and stools come in three sizes -for infants, children and grown-up kids. They are light but robust, ageing with you, becoming your kin’s companion for ten generations.
They are born in Australia.
Designed in Denmark.
Grown carefully in the Basque Country.
And made by a robot in Catalonia.
How could our shelters move along with us, both in time and space, from house to house, from town to town, from generation to generation, shifting and adapting to life’s changing needs?
Shelterhood is our answer to this question.
Shelterhood is habitats smaller than a room.
Shelterhood is for tramps, migrants and wanderers.
Shelterhood is a condition and collective of shelters.
Shelterhood is scandinavian design, mediterranean frugality and australian wilderness.
When we get older, the cabins of our childhood are left in a corner. When we move from one house, from one valley or from one continent to another, we either have to leave our furniture behind or we have to pay a lot of money to move it.
Can our children's huts become our chairs and tables when we are adults?
Expats are condemned to a disposable life, surrounded by buy-and-throw, short-lived, cheap objects.
Can our shelters, our furniture and our rooms move with us, in time and space, from town to town, from generation to generation, adapting to the changing needs and abilities of our lives?
Faced with all these questions, our response was to create Shelterhood, nomadic and migratory huts for ten generations. Architectures that can be sent worldwide.
These structures are fun and cheerful, but at the same time frugal and robust, reversible and portable, adaptable and easy to assemble and disassemble as many times as we want.
Shelterhood is made up of a kit of pieces that do not generate any type of waste because they make the most of all the wood that is processed. They are in bulk and on request.
Shelterhood is a place and an itinerant condition that we all inhabit. A community of trees and forests in which we continue to live, within small portable habitats for children of all ages.
